“Thank you for giving us some hope for the holidays," said a mother of two whose home in Union Beach was leveled by Superstorm Sandy. If Superstorm Sandy has taught us one thing, it’s that the people in the Two River community of Monmouth County help each other out in times of need.  That’s just what Max Berry, owner of Pride Fishing Tackle, did during the busy holiday season when he put together a weekend of fundraising for Sandy relief at his shop in Red Bank. In addition to securing boat captains as guests to answer any fishing questions for customers, Max organized an impressive raffle with something for... More

Imagine your husband being a victim of a brutal criminal attack, leaving you to provide for your young son and now bedridden spouse.  That is what happened to one local woman from Red Bank.  Compounding this woman’s financial situation was the need for ongoing special medical care for her son.  Even in these most difficult of circumstances, our beneficiary continued to work long hours and greet people with a smile at her job.  When she fell into arrears on her rent,... It came to our attention that a woman from Morganville, NJ was in need of assistance.  When this woman’s husband was alive, he would handle the maintenance on their house as needed.  But after he passed away, our beneficiary was left to care for everything – their handicapped son, the finances, their home – all on her own.  Once we learned that her gravel driveway was in need of repair, we set out to fund the project.  Life Guard Ecumenical... Heart problems had run in Carol Tanchak’s family, but when this single mother from Monmouth County, NJ lost her job due to her own heart condition, things began to look bleak.  How would she provide for her family?  When Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation (LGEF) learned of her story, we put the wheels in motion to help.  In June of 2009, LGEF hosted a “Tastefully Simple” gathering in which friends and neighbors (and Carol herself!) joined in sampling Tastefully...
